Weleda has a history that spans more than 90 years, having gotten their start in 1921, back when few people were interested in natural skin care. The brand was founded by Dr. Rudolf Steiner and Dr. Ita Wegman, two physicians who believed in anthroposophy.

This early holistic healing practice encouraged medical doctors to treat the whole body rather than just isolated medical conditions and to inspire their patients to view themselves as connected to the natural world. The doctors believed that there was no better way to do this than with products made from 100 percent natural ingredients, and so they worked with scientists to develop one of the world's first natural wellness product lines.
